Expansion of Civilization

Expansion of Civilization is designed for high school. It is an integrated, research based, non-textbook curriculum. Its scope includes 18 units, two special projects, and 21 civilizations. The focus of the course; the art, music, architecture, and literature of the civilizations. TRISMS takes a multi-cultural approach to literature and composition using the actual writings from the civilizations. The student takes a close look at the civilization as a society, noting human rights, religion, philosophy, government and laws, economics, and scientific advancements. Eastern and Western civilizations are studied chronologically and geographically.

Your scholar will create a coursebook, make a timeline, and mark the expansion of civilization on an unmarked world map. (available from TRISMS)

Orientation:  This gives an introduction and instructions for TRISMS.  It defines how students and teachers will use the curriculum.

Resource & Reading List: This section contains resources you may wish to use in research or for reading to immerse the student in the time period being studied. These are divided into resource books, junior level resources, historical fiction, periodicals, videos, and audiotapes. We realize not all libraries carry the same books, but these are books we found useful in developing the curriculum. Other resources you own may work fine.
